HRDC HOSTS THE BOTSWANA HUMAN RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT SKILLS FAIR AND CAREER CLINICS 2024

The Human Resource Development Council and its partners will host the 2024 Edition of the Botswana Human Resource Development Skills (BHRDS) Fair and Career Clinics. This year's Fair and Career Clinics will be held in Francistown (13th -15th March 2024) and Gaborone (19th – 22nd March 2024).

This strategic initiative serves as a multifaceted platform aimed at bridging the gap between Botswana’s education and training sector and its dynamic labour market. The BHRDS provides one of the avenues through which the HDRC assists in addressing the challenges of skills development by providing a platform for learners and education service providers to meet and interact.

“At the core of this event is an opportunity for young people to receive career counseling to enable them to make informed choices for their education and career planning This year's Fair will promote Technical Vocational Educational and Technical (TVET) Skills and Indigenous knowledge.’’ highlighted Professor Segobye Chief Executive Officer-HRDC.

The event is designed to achieve several objectives: 1. Provide learners with comprehensive information about various occupations across different sectors of Botswana’s economy. 2. Offer personalised career guidance counseling services to help learners explore their aspirations, capabilities, and interests concerning the world of work. 3. Furnish learners with detailed insights into the diverse study programs available at local and international tertiary institutions. 4. Facilitate on-site application processes for programs and institutions wherever feasible, streamlining the transition from academic aspirations to practical enrolment.

It is important to note that since its inception, the BHRDS Fair and Career Clinics have covered various regions of Botswana, including the Southern, Northern, and Northwestern parts, demonstrating a commitment to accessibility and impact across the country. This year Fair has attracted higher education institutions from South Africa, Russia, Zambia, and other countries.
