Ms Agnes Phutego

Manager, Internal Audit

Ms Agnes Phuthego is the Manager, Internal Audit under the Office of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) effective 1st November 2017. She holds a Bachelor of Accounting obtained from the University of Botswana (UB). She is a Fellow Member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA) obtained through the Botswana Accountancy College and a Certified Internal Auditor obtained from the Institute of Internal Auditors (Global).

As part of her continuing professional development, she pursued a number of courses relating to Governance, Risk, Control, Fraud Investigation as well as Internal Audit Systems with various institutions. Ms Phuthego successfully completed the Senior Management Development programme with the University of Stellenbosch – Executive Development. As the Manager, Internal Audit, she plays an important role in the governance processes of the Council. Ms Phuthego successfully set up the Internal Audit Unit. She is currently responsible for leading the Unit in delivering independent assurance services that will assist HRDC to improve its operations through assessing effectiveness of controls, risk management and governance processes across all areas of the Council. She also provides advisory and investigation services on fraud and corruption related matters of the Council.

Ms Phuthego is also instrumental in overseeing and co-ordinating Enterprise-wide Risk Management (ERM) processes within the Council to enable the Council to achieve its desired risk maturity level and derive the intended value from the process.

Ms Phuthego has served as a co-opted member of the Audit Committee for Botswana University of Agriculture and Natural Resources.
